how we work

Click for full description of the project
This project will consist on collectively building something (prototype, cooperative costumes…) that represents the externalization of strong emotions. We have a total of 8 working sessions in which this project will be developed.
The sessions will take place between September and December 2025. We will present the prototype up until February 2026. There is no fee of participation. Snacks and beverages will be provided during the sessions.
- 1 introduction session: meant to explain the basic concept of the Talkaoke round table (our starting point, borrowed from The People Speak). During this evening we will explain its practicalities and foster other facilitators to implement this dynamic within their projects/organizations. The second half of the evening is to experience conversation/interaction within this setting. This will be used also as a moment to connect with people that may be further interested in exploring with us.
- 3 “play day” sessions: During these days we invite collaborators to introduce techniques that may be useful for the development of the project/prototype. The purpose of these sessions is to open our possibilities for exploring the best approach for the building of the prototype. The play days are: Fight-love (Exploring physicality and expression of movement), Monster Rave (Search for identity through character creation) Small Acts of Violence (Political background, theoretical ideas).
- 3 co-creative days: these days are meant to actually build the prototype up with the techniques and feedback we gathered from the play days. All participants are welcome.
- There will be a public showcase during the Festival van de Gelijkheid where we present what we have worked on during these months.
On brave practice
We want to ensure a practice to explore bravely within our project by defining specific norms of action during our events, this in order to explore freely the container we hold without fear of overstepping. We do not aim to harm anybody nor will we tolerate a situation where any type of abuse is displayed. Consensual practices and exploration of these feelings are meant to be experienced in a safe(r) environment with the appropriate techniques given by each event.
Our Safe(r) practice for emotional hurt & repair.
- During our events we provide on off space, so you can take a step back whenever you need without having to leave the event. There will also be a person present if you want to talk or process externally. The language of the events is English but we can help with Dutch & Spanish.
- At the end of every event we take time to acknowledge & appreciate collective effort and people.
